Telling the World (Markimash)

Yami shifted nervously in his chair; resting his head on Mark’s shoulder as his anxiety grew.

“Mark, are you sure this is a good idea?”

Mark gave the younger man a quick peck on the cheek before returning his attention to the recording equipment.

“It’ll be fine Yami. Besides, I’ve never kept anything from my subscribers, and I most certainly am not about to change that.”

“But Mark-“

Yami was cut off when Mark pressed a gentle yet firm finger to his lips, a reassuring smile on his face.

“Relax Yami. I know my fans will accept this for what it is. And besides, for every hater there are 10 fans standing by us and supporting us.”

Yami still looked nervous, but he let Mark continue setting up the camera and fixing the lighting around the room. Mark gave Yami one last peck on the nose before starting up the camera.
“Hello everybody! My name is Markiplier, and, um, as you might have noticed, I have a guest with me.”

Yami grinned; feeling much more relaxed now that the actual event was going on. “Hallo! I’m Yamimash. You’ve probably seen me in a lot of collaboration videos with Mark.”
Mark grinned before continuing. “A lot of you guys know the ship Markimash, and I’m assuming just as many of you ship it, too.”

The Brit couldn’t stop himself from muttering, “That’s for sure.”

There was a small burst of laughter from Mark, which caused a small bubble of pride to form in the pit of Yami’s stomach. Though he’d never admit it, Yami loved listening to Mark laugh. He loved the way it was so masculine, yet at the same time was so cheerful and welcoming. He was so distracted by his thoughts that took Yami a few seconds to realize that Mark was still talking.

“..and we figured it was finally time to tell you.” Mark looked over at Yami, that reassuring light that Yami loved so much gleaming in his eyes. Yami took a deep breath before looking directly into the camera, a shy smile creeping across his face.

“Mark and I… well, we’re dating.”

Yami immediately felt heat rush to his face. Before this, he had felt like their relationship was a sort of secret, something really private and delicate. Now… well, now it was out there for everyone to see. In his moment of pure embarrassment, he buried his head in Mark’s shoulder as his blush intensified.

Mark rested a hand on the back of Yami’s head before turning back to the camera. “So… yeah. It’s true.” Yami was pretty sure he could feel a blush creeping up Mark’s neck as well, but he kept silent. “Yami and I have actually been going out for a while, but now that we’re more comfortable with it, we figured we would tell you.”

Yami peeked at the camera, a smile managing to sneak its way across his face. Despite his embarrassment, he was proud of being with Mark, and hadn’t ever felt more comfortable in a relationship. He felt Mark press a quick kiss on his forehead. “Anything else you want to add, Yami?”

“Um… just that you’ll probably see a lot more collaborations from now on. I know how much you guys like our group stuff, and now you’ll get to see more.” Yami gave the camera another shy grin, and Mark made a few more announcements before turning the camera off. Yami let out a soft sigh, letting his head fall back onto Mark’s shoulder. “Glad that’s out of the way.”

Mark nuzzled his face before gently pushing Yami off and getting the camera. “I’m gonna be editing for a while. If you could go get some food for later….?”

Yami rolled his eyes, but grinned and hopped up to leave Mark to his editing.

~THE DAY AFTER~

Mark woke up to thing familiar ping of his cellphone on the bedside table. Yawning, he sat up and glanced down at his phone. He had a few messages from the night before from Yami asking about food (he hadn’t seen them, he was so busy editing), a text from Wade congratulating him on the relationship, and a little notification from YouTube that said the upload had been successful.

His stomach twisting slightly from nerves, he pulled up YouTube and scrolled through a few comments before he was hit with the sudden realization that his fanbase was truly amazing. Sure, there were a few people that had responded with the typical “OMG WTF UR GAAY??!?!/1/”, but those comments were buried in the literal avalanche of support for the couple.

Mark couldn’t help but smile as he slipped out of bed to go tall Yami the good news.
